Verso One website accessibility
Version of October 28, 2026. Replaces the version of October 24, 2026. This statement applies to the Verso One website.
Goal
The site aims for level AA of the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG 2.2).
What was done and checked
- Keyboard: all links and buttons can be reached with Tab, in reading order, with a visible focus outline. The first Tab shows the "Skip to content" shortcut.
- Screen reader: one main heading, named regions and images with descriptions. The conversion demo is a drawing: the screen reader gets, as text, the file name and what changes in each format, and the change is announced.
- Motion: the sheet flips once on its own, when it appears, and does not repeat. When the system asks for less motion, nothing spins or slides: the change becomes a short fade. No video plays on its own.
- Contrast: all text has at least 4.5:1 contrast against the background, in the light and the dark theme (the site follows the system theme). The colors come from the Verso One design system, with the contrast calculated.
- Local checks: the script that runs before publishing tests the page in Chrome at desktop widths (1440 and 1280 px) and phone widths (390 and 320 px), in the dark theme and with reduced motion. It checks axe-core rules, sideways scrolling, layout stability, keyboard use and touch targets. These tests run locally; there is no continuous checking in CI.
- Small screens and zoom: the site works from 320 px wide without sideways scrolling, and zoom is not blocked. Buttons and navigation links are at least 44 px tall.
- Without JavaScript: the content is still available. The six screenshots and descriptions stay available, and the buttons that flip the sheet disappear.
Known limits
- The site has not yet been tested with real screen readers (NVDA, VoiceOver). The checks are automatic.
- The app screens are pictures: the small text inside them is not read, but what matters in each one is written next to it.
- The local script was also run in Firefox and WebKit on Windows, with themes, keyboard, error and recovery, and content without JavaScript. WebKit on Windows is not Safari on macOS or iPhone. Those devices and systems have not been tested yet.
